So you look down at your watch it’s 11:11. You switch the car on, and the clock reads 1:11. You get an email or a text message through, and it’s 11:11. What does it mean?
It’s like everywhere you go, you’re greeted with the number 11.
Am I going crazy?
Does this number have spiritual significance?
Is God telling me something?
Why do I keep seeing this number?
I’ve definitely thought those things, especially when what does 11:11 mean in the bible it seems too coincidental or that I see the number 1111 multiple times in a week.
Now let’s be real, twice a day at eleven minutes after eleven o’clock (am and pm) and once every year on November 11, you will encounter the numbers 11:11 or 11/11.
But it just sticks out and leaves a mark that gets you pondering the things of the spirit when you see it.
11 is commonly thought of as a number meaning transition.
Quite literally 11 is the hour before we transition into a new day.
Let us dive in and see what the bible has to say about the meaning of the numbers 11 and 1111.
The first mention of 11 in the bible
The number 11 appears in the Bible for the first time in Genesis 32:22, when Jacob embarks on a trip with his wife and 11 sons to return to the land of his inheritance. He first fled because his brother Esau was furious that Jacob had taken his birthright. Jacob began to flee his fate out of fear.
An angel appeared to Jacob on the night stated in verse 22 (11×2), and they battled until morning. At this juncture, Jacob had the insight that he was to change his name to Israel and step into his destiny with greater clarity and courage.
The 11th son
This occurred shortly after Jacob’s wife Rachel gave birth to their 11th son, Joseph, who grew up to be a prophetic dream interpreter. Rachel gave birth to Joseph in Genesis 30:22 (11×2).
Joseph’s main talent was revelation, and he was used to usher Israel into a new season of blessing during one of the world’s worst economic downturns.
Oh, how we long for a new season of blessing at our current point in this world!
11 The Master Number
Another possible explanation is that 1111 is a “master number” in numerology, a belief system in which numbers are assigned meaning depending on their symbolism. The number 11 is a “master number” in numerology, representing spiritual rebirth and enlightenment. Some individuals feel that seeing 1111 several times is a sign that the person is being summoned to spiritual awakening or to pay attention to their spiritual progress.
It is crucial to note that the interpretation of 1111 as a spiritual or biblical sign is not generally recognised. Some may dismiss 1111 as a simple coincidence or as having no importance.
I do believe God can speak through anything and if we are open to seeing Him reveal Himself in all of creation and through all of our senses, then we will encounter Him and learn His ways.
I don’t believe that numbers on their own carry any power or specific message. Or that it’s an angel number or message from your guardian.
Can numbers have a symbolic meaning? Of course, they can and there are some significant chapters and verses in the bible that are the number 11.
What verse is 11:11 in the bible?
Well… There are quite a few.
A few that stand out which I’ve listed below, are ones from Luke, Hebrews, Matthew, Mark and John.
Healing, power, the goodness of God, God hearing prayers, and faith, all seem to be present in those scriptures.
Other links between the number 11 and the bible are the chapters eg Psalm 11 which is a prayer for protection and trust in God. Luke 11 contains Jesus’ teaching on prayer, including the Lord’s Prayer.
One of my favourite verses is Philippians 4:11, ESV: “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
But you’re not here just for the random 11s, you’re here because you’ve seen 11:11 a few too many times for it to be a coincidence and you’re sensing that God is speaking.
What does Hebrews 11:11 say?
By faith, Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age since she considered him faithful who had promised.
What does Matthew 11:11 say?
Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
What does Mark 11:11 say?
And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
What does Luke 11:11 say?
What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent?
What does John 11:11 say?
After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.”
What does the number 1111 mean to Christians?
As followers of Jesus, we know that God speaks, we know that our life has purpose and that God sends angels to carry out his purpose on earth. As mentioned before, the meaning of number 1 or 11 is neither here nor there.
Perhaps for you though, there is a verse that stands out to you and when you see that number it causes you to remember the verse and turn your attention toward God.
What Is The Spiritual Meaning Of The 11:11 Number?
We’ve seen that 11 can symbolise transition as backed up by Hebrews 11:11 and Sarah having faith to conceive a child from being barren. Also, John 11:11 is the transition from death to life when Jesus goes to raise Lazarus from the dead.
Why Do I Keep Seeing 1111?
What does it mean if I keep seeing 11:11? Am I going crazy… Not at all.
It might be God trying to get your attention and remind you of His love for you.
There might be a chance you are on the edge of transition and God is preparing you and the spirit realm is colliding with the natural and you are coming into alignment with his plans and purpose for your life.
It could also be pure coincidence lol.
But whatever it is. Know that God deeply loves you and is always looking to talk to you and communicate with you!
He hears your prayers, He has kind and lovely things to say about you and you are ALWAYS on His mind!
So stop being so hard on yourself, and use this number/experience as a stake in the ground to seek God and listen to His voice.
